Platform Sublime
Platform Sublime speaks of the creation of intricate worlds in the digital space and the awe and beauty we create for our players. The figures, transfixed by their overgrown consoles, seem lost in quiet contemplation, suggesting these devices are gateways to imagined realms where thought and play intertwine. The moss gardens emerging from the gaming devices act as metaphors, they are living, breathing symbols of escapism, where digital interaction becomes a form of meditation.
In this, the work echoes the spirit of Romanticism: a longing for the sublime, for immersion in worlds beyond the self, and for moments of stillness amid the chaos. Like Blake’s vision to “see a world in a grain of sand,” these figures peer into small, growing portals and find entire universes. Here, video games are not distractions, but contemplative portals to the sublime.
